Do miniature kits need glue?
Some do, some genuinely don't, and a third group says the glue is included when it won't be. Here is which is which.
This is the single most common question before a first purchase, and it has three different answers depending on the kit. Worse, the answer printed on the box is sometimes not the answer that arrives at your door.

The split runs along kit type, not brand
Glue-free almost always means a mechanical wooden model — a marble run, a gear model, a music box — built from precision-cut plywood designed to friction-fit. Glue almost always means a room box or dollhouse scene, where you are attaching paper, fabric, resin food and printed card to a wooden shell. No amount of laser precision makes a paper flower stay on without adhesive.
The part nobody mentions: customs removes it
Adhesives, pigments and lithium cells are restricted on international air freight. Manufacturers therefore strip them from shipments bound for many countries — including kits whose own product page lists glue as included. This is not a scam and it is not a missing-parts complaint; it is a shipping rule. But it means the practical answer to "does it come with glue" is often no, regardless of what the listing says.
Assume you are supplying your own adhesive and your own batteries. It costs a few dollars and removes the most common reason a first build stalls on day one.
Even when glue is included, there isn't enough
This comes up repeatedly in builder reports: the supplied bottle is small, it dries out mid-build, and it is often a thin PVA that runs on vertical joints. Glue: common questions
Do Rolife kits come with glue?
Most Rolife room-box kits require glue and include a small bottle. However, glue, paint and batteries are routinely removed from international shipments under air-freight rules, so the box that arrives may not contain what the product page lists. Buy a bottle of fast-grab tacky glue before you start; builders also report the supplied glue running out before the build does.
Which miniature kits need no glue at all?
14 of the 33 kits tracked here (42%) are genuinely glue-free — they use precision-cut plywood with slot-and-tab joints that friction-fit. These are overwhelmingly the mechanical wooden models rather than the dollhouse room boxes.
What glue is best for miniature kits?
A fast-grab white tacky PVA for wood and card, because it gives you a few seconds to position a part and then holds without clamping. Keep a thin cyanoacrylate for small non-porous parts only. Avoid hot glue entirely at this scale — the bead is bigger than the parts.
Is a no-glue kit easier?
Cleaner, not necessarily easier. Glue-free kits are reversible and far less messy, which makes them better at a kitchen table or around children. The trade-off is tighter tolerances: parts must be seated fully and squarely, tabs sometimes need sanding, and a forced joint will split the ply.
