Our take

ROKR's hardest at 6-of-6, and the clock is the first thing to know: the box says twelve hours, GeekDad's reviewer clocked about twenty. Worth it if you want something playable at the end — spring launcher, flippers, infrared sensors, a copper bell, USB power. Skip it if you're newish or can't leave a bench occupied for days. The flexible side rails broke during that reviewer's build, and customs routinely pulls the wax lubricating stick from US shipments.

What works

  • Genuinely playable rather than decorative: spring launcher, rebound/flipper mechanism, infrared sensors and an electronic star score display that flashes your score
  • USB powered, so there are no batteries to buy or replace - confirmed hands-on by GeekDad's reviewer
  • A copper-plated bell gives real physical audio feedback when struck, on top of the electronic light effects
  • Six 11 mm nickel-plated carbon steel balls included, and GeekDad's reviewer reported the electronics worked correctly on first test
  • Wooden pieces punched out of the sheets easily and most of the build is push-to-fit, so no glue is needed for standard assembly

What to watch for

  • ROKR rates this 6/6 - its hardest - and GeekDad's reviewer took about 20 hours against the advertised 12
  • The flexible side rails are fragile and broke during that reviewer's build
  • Aligning the ramps on the playfield is genuinely fiddly, and pieces punching themselves out of the sheets unintentionally makes tracking parts for later steps a headache
  • The wax stick for lubricating moving parts is routinely stripped from US shipments by customs rules, so you have to supply candle wax yourself
