Our take
The least intimidating mechanism of the ROKR range: desk-sized, glue-free, and the payoff is audible — wind the base spring and the keys rise and fall through Canon Variations on their own. Fine as a gift or a first gear train. Harder to recommend if you need legible labels: The Gadgeteer's reviewer found the engraved letters nearly invisible on the dark-stained sheets. ROKR quotes four and a half hours; that builder needed over seven.
